This review is from: Pix-Star PXT408WR01 8-Inch FotoConnect XT Web Frame with Wi-Fi and Email (Black)Received my Pix-Star frame yesterday and am still trying to get pictures that I email to it to show up on the frame. My hope was to give this to my 71 year old mother, all set up, so that I and my brothers can update the pictures remotely for her and she would be able to see them without having to do anything complicated. So far, I see little hope of that happening. After turning it on and connecting to my wifi (that was easy), I wasn't able to register the device on the Pix-Star website. I sent them an email (there is no phone number for help), and a few hours later they sent an email back informing that they reset my serial number. The registration worked after that.I then emailed a couple of pictures to device. I saw the icon in the upper right of the frame and my hope rose that now I could do it. After navigating through the menu a few times, those hopes crashed. The pictures are on the website, but so far I can't figure out how to get them to show up on the frame in a slide show. By the way, the frame comes with a remote that is a great idea in theory but so far frustrating in practice. It does't work very well, maybe every 3 pushes of a button gets a response, and then the latency of the response is a couple of seconds, so I don't know which button I pressed actually worked. So all in, I see very little chance that this frame would be appropriate for my Mother (or maybe anyone who doesn't work for Pix-Star). I gave it two stars instead of one because I still maintain a hope that I'll be able to make it work, at least for myself. If I can't get it going today, back to Amazon it goes....
This review is from: Pix-Star PXT408WR01 8-Inch FotoConnect XT Web Frame with Wi-Fi and Email (Black)I'm a mom at home with a 7-month baby and I was looking for a digital photo frame with Internet sharing capability for me and my parents. I came over several products searching on the Net and I finally bought this one because it seems that their previous product has very good evaluation on Amazon.com. I bought 2, one for us and the other for my parents. My main criteria in choosing this digital picture frame were: picture clarity, easy to set-up and use, Internet connection for picture sharing, at a good price-to-value ratio. The Pix-Star worked like perfect right out of the box. I am a technical savvy person and it was very easy to configure the WiFi, the user interface is very easy and "straight forward", no need to read the user manual, and in a few minutes I got it registered on the pix-star.com web site with my OWN personal email address !I configured the one for my parents with their another email address and now I can send them pictures of our baby by email whenever I want ! Pictures arrive in the frame automatically and very quickly (usually less than 1 minute). A small icon indicates on the screen that a photo has arrived and the frame shows "you have new photo-mail" then you can choose to keep it or delete it. The one you keep are stored inside a dedicated album that you can play a slideshow of.There are some other features also like weather forecast, and also web albums. There is also a feature to access News and other information channels it is called Framechannel.I also tested the Pix-Star after sales service which seems to be very responsive (well at least it was like this for me...), I had a question on how to use the Framechannel service that I did not understand how to use it at the beginning so I sent a help request to Pix-Star explaining the problem. I received an email reply within a few hours and they were very helpful (Based on previous experience with other company's customer service, I expected not much at the beginning...)This frame is not perfect though... For example I would like to have the possibility to play pictures slide show in random order which I did not find on this frame. Currently it always plays pictures in the same order. But, overall, it is a very good product and I am very satisfied (at least till now...)....
This review is from: Pix-Star PXT408WR01 8-Inch FotoConnect XT Web Frame with Wi-Fi and Email (Black)I was skeptical of this frame at first. The prior five-star reviews did, in fact, look of questionable authenticity. However, I bit the bullet and opted for this frame based purely on the fact I was completely turned off by the other frame options. I was looking to fulfill one use case with a photo frame. I wanted to be able to give this frame to my parents pre-configured and be able to remotely send photos to it from my cell phone. While the user interface isn't the best it does exactly what I want and I'm pleased with the functionality. If you want a hassle-free frame that you can send images to and have them appear remotely this is really a good choice. I find it infinitely easier to use and manage than the Kodak Pulse I was playing with. What I'm really impressed with, however, is the support I've received from Pixstar. I have never posted a review on a product before, but the level of support I got was far and above expectations. When I first received my frame there was a display issu...
