This review is from: Digital Labs K101 7\" Electronic Picture FramePage 4 of the manual describing card select "... to select card". Great - what's a card. Called tech support and they will call me back anytime in the next 2 days. If you unplug the device the clock loses time - no battery backup. It wasn't clear to me how to insert a Sony memory stick. Couldn't use pictures from a memory stick. Pictures from a USB drive work nice. It was a gift so don't know how others compare for the price....

This review is from: Digital Labs K101 7\" Electronic Picture FrameWhere should I start? How about with the photos. This unit has two display modes 16:9 and 4:3. In 16:9 mode, photos fill the entire screen but faces are stretched so everyone looks fat. In 4:3 mode, photos are displayed in letter-box format with black bars on each side. You'd think the stretching problem would go away but it doesn't. Instead people are tall and skinny. I have tried cropping my photos to 16:9 before loading them to no avail. This unit simply won't display photos correctly. So if you can get past the horrible display of your favorite photos (maybe you just have landscapes for example) there are more issues. The auto-on feature doesn't work because it starts displaying the stock photos instead of your photos. Setting the clock is pointless because it will reset if you unplug the frame. The interface is painful to use. My remote never worked so I'm constantly searching for the right button on the back. Inserting the SD card is also a pain. The slot is about double the width of a SD card so if a user were to insert one upside down, or crooked, they will probably be scratching their head as to why their photos aren't popping up on the screen. As for the pro's. Well mine hasn't caught fire yet and when its turned off it is pleasant to look at. Maybe I'll just print a nice photo and stick it over the screen.BTW, I received this as a gift from a distant relative...I would've returned it 10 minutes after taking it out of the box if I bought it myself....

This review is from: Digital Labs K101 7\" Electronic Picture FrameI received this Digital Labs Model K101 Digital Frame as a gift. I write this review only because while it sat on an end table next to my chair it began crackling, then an odor quickly began, then smoke rolled from the top of it. It was catching on fire. This all happened within seconds. If we had not been home or even in that room at the time I am certain it would have caught flame. I do not know if this is a freak happening for this frame or typical. I just know it happened and want others to be aware....
