This review is from: Haier PFW8 8-Inch Wifi Digital Photo FrameWe purchased this to send to grandma. We hoped to be able to email new pictures to her, and have them show up on the display. Unfortunately, it's much more difficult than it sounds. While the display is bright and crisp when viewed up close, it washes out quickly when viewed at any angle other than straight on. The brightness is sufficient for typical indoor viewing. The frame is well constructed, and looks like it would hold up well. The tiny remote control feels very flimsy, and easy to lose in a sofa cushion. We ran into some issues with the initial setup. Even after configuring the Wi-Fi connection, it refused to connect to the mail server. A quick check of Haier's website showed that this model does not exist. There are no references to picture frames or the model number PFW8. A call to Haier's 800 number was quickly answered by a helpful young man who also had never heard of it, and had no reference material beyond an unreadable copy of the product manual. He promised to send an email to his product specialist, but it was Friday afternoon, and we probably won't hear back until next week. After doing a hardware reset (a paper clip in a tiny hole in the frame), it finally decided to connect, update its firmware, and download some test pictures. Unfortunately, they were corrupt, and would not display. Repeated attempts with different pictures yielded similar results, with about half of the pictures eventually showing up.The process of receiving emails, copying the pictures to internal memory, creating an album, and restarting the slide show requires DOZENS of keypresses through multiple menus on the tiny remote. Grandma just isn't going to do that....
This review is from: Haier PFW8 8-Inch Wifi Digital Photo FrameI bought this for my fiance to use overseas so he wont have to tote around tons of pictures of our family and ruin them by taking them down. I recieved it and fell inlove with it plan to buy another one for myself. The only thing that was missing was the stand but i called the company and the quickly and i mean quickly sent me a replacement stand. I dont find it difficult to use i even sent an email to the frame just to test it out to see how it works and it was fairly easy to use....
This review is from: Haier PFW8 8-Inch Wifi Digital Photo FrameThe product is essentially great but with some surprising limitations in the firmware. I expected to be able to access a directory on a PC within the local WiFi network and display the photos in that directory on the Haier, but the firmware does not support this function. Also the email address where you pick up photos transmitted direct to the device is hard coded and apparently can't be changed....
