This review is from: Popcorn Hour A-210 Digital Device - BlackShipped with the wrong style power cord (not for the US). Has the standard computer-type plug on the other end and the DC adapter was universal, so easy to fix... if you have spare power cords lying around....
This review is from: Popcorn Hour A-210 Digital Device - BlackI've been using, trying to figure out this device for several months. Been to different forum, spoke with tech support, etc. As much as I'd like to, I can't give it more than 2 stars. The goods:1. Plays all my video files without a hitch. I don't do pictures or audio, so I can't comment on those aspects.2. Nice, simple design. The bad:1. Takes forever to recognize my network devices. Not minutes, not hours, not days, but several days!! Unbelievable! At first I though something was wrong with my server, which had been running fine on m my pch100. When I 'upgraded' to this device, my server could not be found. I tried everything, including changing my router, nothing worked. For at least a couple of weeks. Then after not touching it for several months due to frustration, I tried it again after 2 months...now my server showed up.2. The worst flaw for me is the network noise. I tried to search on the topic, but apparently I'm the only one with the problem. Every time a packet is sent, there is an interference buzz through the HDMI audio. At first I could not figure out where this noise was coming from. I changed ports on my receiver,I changed receivers. Nothing worked. Then I noticed while listening to the device itself, that every time the network light blinked, the device emits a very faint buzz. This buzz is picked up by the HDMI cable and transmitted through the receiver. Which then amplified the buzz. A huge annoyance. I'll be contacting the manufacturer about a return....
This review is from: Popcorn Hour A-210 Digital Device - BlackI've been using Popcorn Hour devices for years now. The A-210 can play just about every video and audio file that you can find. Alternatives such as the Apple TV don't even come close to the Popcorn Hour. You can buy a 2TB hard drive and easily plug it into the Popcorn Hour A-210, and then load it up with 1000s of movies in AVI, MP4, MOV, and even ISO formats. The Popcorn Hour is the "iPod" of TV devices. If Apple was smart, they'd buy out the company that makes the Popcorn Hour and re-brand it as the next-gen Apple TV....
