This review is from: Omnitech 11\" Digital Photo FrameLike the reviewer below, I got this frame for a bargain price. For twenty bucks for an 11" frame, this is a bargain and is the best in its price range! Rather than a full review, here are observations to supplement other reviews:-See it in person, cause size matters! This frame displays amazing pictures that makes 5" and 7" frames look really dinky. -The native screen resolution is 800x480px (16:9). It supposedly uses 15w while its on.-The LCD itself is really bright and vibrant, even during daytime. There is a tiny bit of light leakage at the bottom of the LCD during dark pictures. -Picture options are very basic. The manual states that it supports only JPEGs and up to 4000x4000 resolution.-Slideshow options are limited. While you can change transition timing and types, you cannot change picture display order. It seems to show pictures in the order of filenames, alphabetically. -You CAN adjust how far it leans! The bottom of the leg can be yanked out resulting in a more vertical position-Turning on the frame DOES make it default to the crummy demo pictures. There seems to be no way around it. HOWEVER, what I do is yank out the media (in my case a SD card) and reinsert it. The frame will read the media and start playing pictures. For me that's easier than navigating buttons. -After 8 hours of playing, the frame has not frozen/crashed yet....

This review is from: Omnitech 11\" Digital Photo FrameBefore you buy, be aware that this frame cannot be set up to show your pictures immediately upon power up. It takes 4 button pushes (of 2 different buttons - on the back where you can't see them) every time you power it on. This is a non-starter if you want to do what I do - hook it to a timer so that it runs while you're home and awake and shuts down when you're gone. Given how hot the power adapter of this frame gets, I can't imagine leaving it on all the time.Other issues:1) The frame around the screen is huge. It adds >2 inches all the way around.2) The leg that makes it stand up on a table leaves it leaning way back - no where near vertical. This looks really funny for a picture frame. If you wall mount, this won't be a problem - but then how are you going to reach the buttons to start it up?The picture quality seemed fine, but I've learned that a digital frame that has to be turned on manually to be seen (especially when the turn-on process is tedious) never gets used....

This review is from: Omnitech 11\" Digital Photo FrameThis is for a unit purchased at Staples retail, their SKU 885787, UPC 718103139762 - Amazon, the world doesn't revolve around your ASIN number - how about posting the UPC? It is also not listed on Staples.com, which of course prevents anyone from leaving a review there.Bought this during the Presidents weekend sale at $20 after a $30 rebate, plus I had some Staples Rewards cerfiticates to redeem on top of that so I can't complain about the price. However, I noticed an ever so slight indentation on the side of the frame and some gummy glue residue possibly from a price tag or something. It is possible that the gum/glue came from the tape that held the styrofoam bag closed and rubbed off while I was opening it so I can't be certain, but I doubt it - it's not at the edge. Besides that doesn't explain the micro dent, and I doubt it's the typical open box situation from a retail store because the packaging was sealed, it looks like it was done at the factory. In terms of the function it's decent, the displayable portion is 11" and there is a black border around it between the screen and the wooden frame. If you look very closely you can see that the LCD scans at a relatively low refresh rate but of course this is a photo frame not a monitor. (it's the same effect as when you film a tv or a monitor and it shows on the video - but not anywhere near as much) Other than that I don't have too much complaints, there is a clock and calendar function which also displays a slideshow in the lower right hand corner, but it doesn't seem like there's a way to turn that off or better yet, associate certain pictures with certain dates on the calendar, nor is there any way to set reminders for birthdays and anniversaries - it just displays the month with today highlighted. However I would suggest to whoever makes it that if you want to add extra features, you might as well take it to the next logical step and go all the way. The internal memory used for the few stock photos (which you apparently cannot delete - there is no built in flash memory to load photos to) would be better used for the calendar. It does accept SDHC and USB flash drives up to 16gb though, according to the manual. Also if you exit the calendar view and go back to your memory card it will remember which photo it stopped at and you can start a full screen slideshow from there. For my price of course it is definitely still a good deal, but for those buying retail I would suggest looking at it closely when opening the package and carefully examining for those small blemishes, especially if you are giving it as a gift. The going price seems to be $50 when not on sale, I would not consider that a hot deal since the price of LCD has come down and there are other options out there....
