This review is from: Transcend TS2GPF830B 8-Inch Digital Photo Frame with 2 GB internal memory (Black)I was looking for an inexpensive but decent digital photo frame after my GE Dect 6.0 Photo Frame bit the dust. I wanted it to be 4:3 since my digital camera is not widescreen, it had to have a decent resolution (no 480 x 240 junk!), and it had to be from a reputable manufacturer. Finding this combination seemed to be like hunting for the Holy Grail, as most inexpensive frames are 16:9 or have a low resolution. I spent many hours researching frames and finally narrowed it down to this one from Transcend, and I am very pleased with it. First of all, it works, and it shows no sign of eventually not working. Transcend is primarily a memory manufacturer (think Sandisk or Kingston), and they have a decent reputation for quality memory. The frame itself is very nice. The construction and overall feel of it does exude quality. The bezel is indeed plastic, but it has a nice design etched into it, so it does not look terribly cheap. If the bezel would have been wood or metal, I would easily give this frame 5 stars. The 2GB internal memory is a nice bonus, as is the remote control. The menu interface is a bit clunky and adjusting setting like the time can be a bit counterintuitive, but compared to others I have seen, it is not too bad. It might make me think twice about getting this as a gift for an older person or someone who is not good with gadgets, but it was easy enough for me to figure out. There are all kinds of things to mess with in the settings menu, if you want. You can add a calendar, you can change what animation is used between pictures in the slide show, you can set an alarm, change the time the frame automatically turns on or off... All kinds of stuff that I won't use other than the on/off timer, so I can't really comment on those. But if you are looking for features, this seems to have a lot. The on/off timer works as it should. The picture quality is good. There are different settings for adjusting how the pictures are displayed, but quite honestly, I couldn't tell much difference between the various settings. Not enough to matter anyway. But it does display my pictures without any noticeable artifacts, it's bright enough, and the viewing angle is adequate. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase. This is definitely a better frame than the one it replaced. As long as it doesn't die an early death, I am quite happy with this frame....
