Of the dozen frames at Best Buy, this one was far and away the best.Build quality is very good. The LCD and the faux-wood frame are two parts with no proprietary attachment methods, so you can substitute any frame of the same aspect ratio. The existing frame is acceptable and convincing from a distance. Removing it leaves the LCD with a glossy white border that looks sleek and modernist and compares well to the Sony. Image quality is first-rate. Products in this category are defined as much by what they don't do wrong as what they do well. Kodak hasn't made any significant missteps. The LCD has a matte finish and no glass cover, so there isn't any glare. Color balance is almost perfect. Viewing angles are above-average for a TN panel. The gamma curve doesn't emphasize any particular part of the brightness range, nor does it clip highlights. Kodak's downsizing algorithm is miles ahead of the Sony; detail is evident right up to the limits of the frame's resolution, and curves have very little of the jagged quality of the competing frame. All considered, pictures look lifelike and realistic. Excellence continues to the user interface, which is, by photoframe standards, workmanlike and effective. A relative in her 80s took about an hour to figure it out. Save for the snooze-style button behind the facade that switches to the calendar, clock, and multi-picture views, all operations are controlled by a series of 'touch-lights' on the front of the frame. The button lights turn on when a hand is near the front or rear of the frame. They're otherwise invisible, and there's no physical demarcation of each button. The screen displays an icon next to each button. The menu system can show thumbnail views of every picture on the device at the rate of about 50 per page, and so scales fairly well. There are a few chinks in the armor here. Button responsiveness is so-so. Buttons respond best to a quick and properly aligned tap. Physical pressure has no effect and slow presses often fail to register. The unit itself is a bit sluggish with many pictures, so navigating takes patience. An inevitable point of confusion is that the LCD isn't a touchscreen. Everyone will want to press the icons on the screen itself, to no result. Also, when you first wave your hand near the device, the lights on the frame appear but the icons do not, so there's always a double-tap where you pick a button at random, press it, let the icons appear, and then go about what you wanted to do. The interface has all manner of options for slideshow duration and automatic on/off. There are ports for USB keys and all major flash card formats except for Compact Flash (CF). Because the frame will play attached content automatically, a relative can easily swap an SD card sent by mail for whatever is currently attached with no other expertise required. Short of sending 4x6 prints, this is about as simple as it gets. All considered, this is a well-executed frame that does little wrong. It had the best overall image quality of all the units at Best Buy. If you do buy at that store, have them check the stock at other stores for the same unit. Prices vary by location; the first store had them for $110, but I was able to able to find mine on clearance for $60 a few miles away....

I downloaded pictures of our kids and grandkids off of their facebook pages and put them on a flash drive. Then just plugged it in the usb port on the frame and the pictures started playing. I loved it so much, I got me one and copied the pictures onto another flash drive for us!...
