It took 400 pictures at almost 1 gig and automatically shrunk them all down to 200 megs. I didn't notice a difference in quality. So you could put about 4,000 good looking images on this things internal memory.CON:Two gigs or 4,000 images: With NO RANDOM OPTION. Every time it's turned on (or the menu is accessed, or the clock is accessed) THE SLIDE SHOW RESTARTS FROM THE ORIGINAL PICTURE. The Clock: The remote has a handy toggle button from clock to slide show, which resets/restarts from the original picture! The device can be placed vertical or horizontal but the clock only displays horizontally.The menu's appear simple but the functionality is deceiving. It took 10 frustrating minutes to learn how to delete one single image.The device is packed with 5 transition effects that I find annoying - and there is no option for a simple 'display next image' - there is no fade to black option or dissolve either.It's packed with options to display your pictures in a theme setting (it calls it a scrapbook). The themes are animated and end up reducing the overall size of your family pictures. Pictures scroll across the screen - but if you have an eye for quality - the images move in a choppy and un-smooth manner. The "travel" theme takes 80% of the screen and shows your pictures (with no random option or ability to change the speed of the pictures) in a small tab in the bottom corner - much like an Icon. It's very sad to think Philips put this much work into this model and completely neglected a decent slide show capability....

It seems like many others are dealing with the same issue. Returning it to Costco and they can deal with Phillips customer support. Now my wife is panicking that we're turning over 2000 family photos to who knows who...luckily none will ruin our political careers but there are some that I'd prefer not be put into circulation....

Last year I got married, went backpacking around Europe and was a bridesmaid for my bff in Hawaii so I had a ton of pictures to load on this frame. I loaded all of my wedding pictures onto a memory card and saved the photos directly on the frame. I created an album entitled "wedding", selected and placed all of the photos I just saved on the frame into the album. I then repeated the same process for my "Europe" and "Hawaii" pictures. It was a lot easier doing it this way verses selecting a photo one at a time from the frame and placing them into selected albums. With 2GB of memory, I'll have plenty of room to save my upcoming travel photos for the year! People naturally gravitate to the frame and the topic of conversation at dinner parties are questions/comments about my photos. Talk about stealing my thunder! As for the picture quality, I thought it was very good - I am no techy by any means but I still appreciate quality products. Not being able to play my photos at random didn't bother me much since I like my photos to tell a story in sequential order but hopefully Philips takes this into consideration for future products....
