This review is from: HOYA DIGITAL PRO1 58MM CIRCULAR POLARIZER FILTER [Camera]Got fantastic results with Canon SLR 30D!Only use B+W and Hoya, specially the ones made to meet digital.Very well build, rotating feels soft, no slack, not too loose, not too tight.Bought this one since slightly better price than B+W version....

This review is from: HOYA DIGITAL PRO1 58MM CIRCULAR POLARIZER FILTER [Camera]I purchased two of these filters; one for a Canon Vixia HF G10 camcorder and the other for my wife's Canon Powershot G9. The filters appear to be well manufactured with a very smooth movement. They can be a little tight when trying to remove. There is enough depth on them to affix a lens cap which is a plus. What greatly annoyed me is that both filters showed areas where the coating was missing. One of them appears to have a superficial scratch where the coating is missing, but there is no actual damage to the glass. Because my G10 has a filter mount much greater than the front lens element diameter, I am keeping the least damaged filter because the blemish is very close to the edge and seems unlikely to cause a problem. The other one is being returned. These problems do not appear to be any fault of the vendor because the filter packages are sealed, so I blame Hoya who should be ashamed of themselves. I've used Hoya with great satisfaction for 40 years, and this is the first problem I have ever encountered. Disgraceful....

This review is from: HOYA DIGITAL PRO1 58MM CIRCULAR POLARIZER FILTER [Camera]I bought this because of the 'levels' of Hoya available. Not the cheapest, but definitely one of the best. I bought this for the Canon Powershot SX30 IS. As you may probably already know, Canon has the 67MM Circular Polarizer Lens (CPL) recommended for this camera, which is even more expensive than the 58mm. By using the 58mm adapter and this lens, I am able to take clear photos in a variety of conditions without any noticeable vignetting. The lens is thin but still allows for the 58mm lens cap. A little difficult to screw into the mount because of the thin form factor, but if you take your time...well worth the effort. I have not noticed the problem with the retaining ring used to mount the lens. You do not have to muscle the filter on. The shipper (Lensgear) had the lens in the mail and delivered in 2 days. I am not the most patient person, so when the order is received that quickly, there are no arguments. Because of all this, I recommend getting this CPL filter through this shipper. I could not be happier....
